Dr. David Telford and Dr. Eileen Ha have partnered to create True North TMS at Willow Medical offering TMS therapy for treatment resistant depression (TRD).
Dr. David Telford is our clinic Medical Director of True North TMS and has extensive experience/knowledge and specialized training in TMS therapy. Doctors Telford, Ha and Johnson, along with our excellent team of board-certified psychiatrists at our sister clinic Willow Medical and Wellness, are excited to be able to offer this valuable and advanced therapy to our community.
After many years of treating the mental health needs of Alaskans, we recognize the limitations of our standard treatments for some patients and are committed to expanding our treatment options for depression.
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation is a non-invasive and non-medication-based treatment for depression (and other conditions) that can be invaluable to those who have not responded or had suboptimal benefits to medication treatments.

From the beginning to completion of your TMS journey, your care at True North TMS will be provided by our board-certified psychiatrists, Dr. David Telford and Dr. Deanna Johnson. At True North TMS at Willow Medical, there is always a board-certified psychiatrist on site. We have two of the most highly experienced TMS technicians in the state on our team that you will work with you for your daily treatments.

Meet our Team
David Telford, MD
Dr. Telford has been serving the mental health needs of Alaskans for over 24 years practicing psychiatry in Alaska since 1996. He is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He completed his residency training at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota and received his medical degree from Northeastern Ohio Medical University. His primary focus has been treating acutely ill patients and has been the medical director of the Adult Mental Health Unit at Providence Alaska Medical Center since 2000. He is a past president of the Alaska Association and has served as psychiatry department chair at Providence Alaska Medical Center and medical director for the Psychiatric Emergency Department. Dr. Telford is well-recognized amongst his peers as one of our states most skilled, dedicated, compassionate, and competent psychiatrists. Over the years, Dr. Telford has become increasingly aware of the limitations of antidepressants and has become interested in pursuing other methods for treating depression. Excited about TMS and committed to expanding local community access, Dr. Telford decided to collaborate with another local psychiatrist, Dr. Eileen Ha. In 2018 they created an Alaskan owned, physician run TMS clinic, True North TMS at Willow Medical. He enjoys offering a safe and effective treatment option and a better chance for recovery with TMS for refractory depression when other treatment options have failed or have been suboptimal.
Deanna Johnson, MD
Dr. Johnson is a board-certified adult psychiatrist who returned to Alaska to practice in 2005. She lived in Alaska 1989-1995 after completing her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA. She began medical school in 1994 through the Alaska WAMI program, spending the first year of medical training in Anchorage, then moving to Seattle to complete her training. She completed her Psychiatry Residency Training also through the University of Washington. After practicing two years in Spokane, she was eager to return to Alaska, her adopted “home.”
For 13 years, Dr. Johnson practiced as an attending psychiatrist treating the acutely ill at Providence Alaska Medical Center’s inpatient Mental Health Unit. She also provided psychiatric consultations for the medically hospitalized/ill for 11 years and was Chair of the Psychiatry Department for 6 years. She has been in outpatient practice along with her colleagues at Willow Medical and Wellness and at True North TMS since 2018. She provides diagnostic evaluations, pharmacotherapy, and psychotherapy. She specializes in mood conditions, anxiety conditions, adjustment disorders, life transitions, ADHD, and other conditions.
Dr. Johnson has received specialized TMS training and certification at the Harvard Medical School research center, the Berenson-Allen Center for Non-invasive Brain Stimulation.
Eileen Ha, MD
Dr. Ha is an adult psychiatrist providing psychiatric care to Alaskans for over 18 years. She provides outpatient diagnostic evaluations, pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy for adults (18 years and older) Dr. Ha specializes in the treatment of mood and anxiety disorders, attention deficit disorder, adjustment disorders, life transitions, and women’s mental health issues.
Dr. Ha was born and raised in California. She received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 1994 and her medical degree in 1999 from the University of Washington, Seattle. Dr. Ha began her psychiatry residency at the University of Hawaii and completed her training at the University of Washington. Dr. Ha came to Alaska in 2002 via the WAMI program as a fourth-year resident. Dr. Ha has practiced outpatient psychiatry in Anchorage for over 18 years and is proud to call Alaska her home.
Dr. Ha opened Willow Medical and Wellness in September 2008 with the vision of creating a clinic that provides compassionate, excellent and personalized service to our clients in an environment that is respectful, private and calming. Dr. Ha has been dedicated to cultivating a team of highly reputable and caring providers.
On the 10-year anniversary of Willow Medical & Wellness in 2018, Dr. Ha started True North TMS at Willow Medical in collaboration with Dr. David Telford. Together, they wanted to offer Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation at Willow Medical to the community delivering state of the art care for the mental health and wellness of our Alaskan clients by trusted local psychiatrists. Every client treated at True North TMS will be assessed, evaluated and monitored by a board-certified psychiatrist.
Clinic Manager and TMS Technician
Alyson was born and raised in Anchorage, AK. She has always had an interest in healthcare and began working in a chiropractic clinic shortly after high school and later completed her CNA certification in Savannah, Georgia in 2014. Since moving back to Alaska, she has administered TMS treatments since 2017. She is CPR certified by the National CPR Association. Her primary goal is to guide patients through their TMS journey to a new quality and enjoyment in life. Alyson’s favorite part of being a TMS treater is the connection built with patients and the opportunity and privilege to watch their growth and healing from beginning to end of treatment. She enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters in her free time.
TMS Coordinator and TMS Technician
Sarah received her degree in Counseling Psychology from Colorado Mesa University in 2013. She is CPR certified through the Red Cross. After starting her career as a therapist, she took some time off to travel the world. After her travels, she found her desire to help others was still strong and started work as a TMS technician in 2018. She enjoys bonding with her patients during their daily treatment and the opportunity to assist patients achieve a new outlook in life. She enjoys all things Alaskan from camping and hiking glaciers in her spare time.
